On May 19 and 20, 2026, the final international seminar and sixth transnational meeting under the POP-UP – “Sport for empowerment and for hoping-up your personal and professional pathway” project took place in Namur, Belgium. The project is implemented under the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union. Bulgarian sports development association (BSDA) was represented by Joanna Dochevska and Konstantin Zankov, Board members of the organization, who took an active part in the working discussions related to the project results, methodological tools for social inclusion through sport, and the sustainability of the developed practices.
During the two-day meeting, the partners presented to the international audience in Belgium the results of the research work, the developed sports methodologies, and practical guidelines for working with vulnerable groups through sport. Special emphasis was placed on the role of sport as a tool for empowerment, social integration, and support for the personal and professional development of adults in vulnerable situations.
The agenda also included expert discussions, practical sports activities, and working sessions dedicated to communication, dissemination of results, and the final evaluation of the project. The POP-UP project continues to demonstrate how sport can be an effective tool for social change, confidence building, and active participation in society. The initiative aims to promote social and professional integration through sport among vulnerable groups and creates innovative educational tools that support personal development through physical activity. The project brings together six partner organizations from Belgium, Bulgaria, France, Italy, Poland, and Romania, united by the mission of using sport as a tool for empowerment and positive change.
