RISE Train-the-Trainers Workshop in Athens
26.10.2025
From 23 to 26 October 2025, a Transnational Train-the-Trainers Workshop was held in Athens, Greece, within the framework of the “RISE Empowered Above Sexual Violence” project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. The four-day workshop, hosted by The American College of Greece and A.S. Altis, brought together sport professionals and trainers from Cyprus, Italy, Bulgaria, Spain, and Austria to enhance their competencies in preventing and responding to sexual violence in sport.
The RISE project aims to address the issue of sexual violence in sports by developing and promoting a comprehensive set of policies, guidelines, educational materials, and practical tools for sport stakeholders. Its goal is to ensure safe, inclusive, and violence-free sport environments for all.
Throughout the training, participants explored the project’s six thematic modules, gaining practical knowledge and tools to implement at the national level. The sessions covered:
• Understanding the forms and indicators of sexual violence in sport;
• Step-by-step response and prevention guidelines;
• Bystander intervention practices;
• Empowering Youth Ambassadors against sexual violence;
• Developing social media campaigns for awareness and prevention.
The interactive sessions combined expert input, group exercises, and reflection activities, equipping participants with the knowledge and confidence to act as multipliers in their respective countries. The workshop concluded with a shared commitment to strengthen collaboration among European sport organizations and to continue promoting respect, safety, and zero tolerance towards all forms of violence in sport.
