In the period 5-11 August 2024 in the city of Sofia, the 11th European Showdown Championships is taking place, which is a long-awaited event for the sports community in Bulgaria. In 2020, our country was approved to host the European Showdown Championships, but due to the pandemic, the championships was not held. Four years later, thanks to the efforts of the "Sports for the Visually Impaired Federation ", the bid to host was again approved by both the "Ministry of Youth and Sports" and the International Blind Sports Federation (IBSA).

Аn event was held with the participation of coaches and athletes from the Darko Team Athletics School оn July 27th 2024, at the "Vasil Levski" National Stadium in Sofia. This event was part of the "Carbon Neutral Sports Clubs Network – C ZERO SPORT CLUBS" initiative. The project aims to encourage small European sports clubs to take concrete actions for climate protection by implementing eco-friendly management practices and using digital tools. Participants conducted eco-activities in order to highlight the importance of caring for nature, demonstrating that environmental protection should be a priority for all athletes, regardless of their age.

In the period 08-10 July 2024, an international partnership meeting under the European Week of Winter Sport project took place in Luxembourg. The meeting brought together sports organisations from eight countries to discuss the promotion of physical activity during winter and raising awareness on climate change and sustainability through winter sports. The main objective of the project is to make winter sports more accessible and inclusive while raising awareness on climate change through winter sports which is in line with the EU Work Plan for Sport's goal of promoting sustainability in sport events.

In the period March – June 2024, Bulgarian sports development association held a series of focus groups under the Rise Empowered Above Sexual Violence in Sports project, in which athletes, administrators, coaches and experts participated. Rise Empowered Above Sexual Violence in Sports or simply RISE is an Erasmus Plus co-funded initiative, aiming to address the issue of sexual violence in sports.

The international training course on SHOWDOWN was held in Thessaloniki, Greece, from July 2nd to 3rd, 2024, gathering sport experts from Bulgaria, Greece, Cyprus and Spain. On July 2nd, the training focused on inclusive SHOWDOWN, took place at the Center for Education & Rehabilitation for the Blind. The following day, July 3rd, the training continued with a session on first aid for people with disabilities, held at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. This event was part of an ongoing effort to promote inclusivity and safety in sports for individuals with disabilities.

From June 28 to July 1, 2024, an international training titled "An Autism and Behaviour Management training for P.E. school teachers" (acronym P.E.rfect) took place in Elche, Spain. The event brought together 5 coaches and physical education teachers per country from Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Ireland, Spain, Poland, and the Republic of North Macedonia. The main goal of the training was to discuss effective tools and strategies for including children with autism in the educational system, tailored to local conditions. Participants also reviewed and tested a specially developed e-learning platform created within the project.

In the period 24-27 June 2024, in Warsaw, Poland, a partner meeting under the “POP-UP – Sport for empowerment and for hoping-up your personal and professional pathway” project was held, which was attended by Joanna Dochevska and Diana Hadzhiangelova – representatives of Bulgarian sports development association. The initiative aims to enable the training and integration pathways for adult populations, especially women and people with disabilities, to develop and incorporate innovative training activities centered around physical activity and sports, with a focus on health and well-being, and a pedagogical perspective of empowerment and skills development relevant to employment. The activities developed support the accessibility and inclusion of these populations and will create opportunities at both a personal and professional level.

On 24 and 25 June 2024 in Sofia, Bulgaria, an international partner meeting under the Carbon Neutral Sports Club Network – C ZERO SPORTS CLUB project took place. During the meeting, the "Carbon Footprint Measurement Programme for Sports Organisations", developed for the purpose of the project, was discussed and the results obtained and analysed. Further consideration was given to future project objectives and activities. The consortium includes 7 partner organisations from Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Serbia and Turkey.

On June 18th, 2024, Bulgarian sports development association, held an event under the " “DevelpMENS: Youngsters personal and social development through self-determination theory, critical thinking and media literacy” project. The event was attended by young people as well as coaches, teachers, sports specialists and experts working on the topic. The project is international and brings together partners from 6 different countries – Italy (L'ORMA – coordinator), Croatia (Vere Montis), Bulgaria (Bulgarian sports development association) and partner countries from the Western Balkans: Bosnia and Herzegovina (BRAVO), Albania (New Vision) and Kosovo (Heimerer College).

On the 8th of June, 2024, the women's team of NSA Vasil Levski finished the season in a fitting way, defeating rivals Sofia Ladies with a score of 10:0 in a match of the last 26th round of the women's football championship. The girls, led by head coach Valentina Gospodinova – 16-time champion of Bulgaria with NSA Vasil Levski and with over 100 international matches for the national teams of Bulgaria (girls and women), supported the SMS – Strong Mind for Success initiative.

The participants in the event performed an eco-friendly activity that highlighted the importance of caring for nature and its preservation, thus young athletes showed that caring for the environment should be a priority for all athletes, no matter their age.

On May 16, 2024, the "New Stars" athletics tournament was held at the "Vasil Levski" National Sports Academy. The tournament was organized at an extremely high level by the KLASA sports club and the director of the tournament – Assoc. prof. Plamen Nyagin. The 46th edition of the international tournament included in its program a 100 and 200-meter inclusive start, as well as shot put, in which 53 athletes with intellectual disabilities took part.

Our country joined the European family in 2007, believing in the words of one of the founding fathers of the EU, Jean Monnet, "There is no future for the people of Europe other than in union". On May 9, 2024, from 10.00. until 12.00, in Zaimov Park, a sports holiday and celebration of Europe Day was held, which was attended by children from the capital kindergartens: Kindergarten 8 "Prof. Dr. Elka Petrova" with Director – Mrs. Velichka Popova; Kindergarten 100 "Acad. Pencho Raykov" with director – Mrs. Zlatka Atanasova; Kindergarten 104 "Moyat Svyat" with director – Mrs. Rumyana Ilieva; Kindergarten 191 "Prikazka bez krai" with director – Mrs. Slava Vassileva, Kindergarten 195 " Mormarevi Brothers " with director – Mrs. Albena Tsocheva. The host of the event was Nadezhda Panayotova, the Bulgarian voice of one of the favourite Disney cartoon characters – Elsa from Frozen.

In the period 27-30 April 2024, in Madeira, Portugal, the final partner meeting of the CHEER project took place, during which the partners discussed the activities implemented within the project, which aims to improve the mental health of young people by stimulating their creativity and harnessing their youth enthusiasm. During the partners' meeting, the finished intellectual outputs of the CHEER project were discussed – CHEER metaphorical maps, CHEER training videos, CHEER podcasts and the launched #cheer.education campaign on Instagram. These products are part of the initiative, that aims to improve and optimise the mental health of young people.
